By any other name and there are many ("Jinling", "Tianjing", "Nanking", "Stone City", got its name "Nanjing" in the Ming dynasty and is sometimes called by its nickname, "Ning.") its a famous ancient capital city of 10 dynasties. It is one of the historical and cultural cities in the world populated by over 5 million people. Its a city that is hopeful it's many rivers will be the key to a prosperous future. As Nanjing grows it struggles with modernization that brings it in direct conflicted with it political and historic past. Can Nanjing make the necessary transition into big business and deal with the impact of tourism? It can  but not without its sacrifices. It'll be interesting to see how she reforms to meet the imposition of the modern world.
