Brig. Gen. Goldhorn to serve as new Adjutant General
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 18, 2005
Governor Felix P. Camacho today announced that he has appointed Brigadier General Donald J. Goldhorn as the Adjutant General of the Guam National Guard.
Governor Camacho relieved Col. Jerry M. Rivera of his position as acting Adjutant General and thanked him for his service and dedication to our armed forces.
“I have reassessed the direction of Guam National Guard and felt that General Goldhorn will best serve the needs of the Guard in our island’s defense,” Governor Camacho said. “I have full confidence in General Goldhorn, and ask that the hard-working and dedicated guardsmen and women give him their full support.”
Brig. Gen. Goldhorn brings leadership experience into the role as he formerly served as Chief of Staff for the Guam Army National Guard for nearly five years in the 1990s before he was appointed by South Dakota Governor William Janklow as the Assistant TAG in 2000. He served there and was promoted to Brigadier General until his retirement in 2001. He then returned to Guam to work for DODEA at Guam High School. Brig. Gen. Goldhorn is a Vietnam veteran and the recipient of the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association’s Distinguished Service Award. He attended the Army War College and is a recipient of the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star awards. He is married to Jan Goldhorn, a teacher at Commander William C. McCool Middle School.
“I look forward to working with the distinguished soldiers of the Guam National Guard again, people who I have built strong relationships with in the years I worked here,” General Goldhorn said. “Guam is a truly wonderful home, and when the Governor asked me to come out of retirement to serve this island again, I had no hesitation.”
