Brigadier
General
Donald J. Goldhorn |
Governor Felix Perez Camacho tapped Brigadier General
Donald J. Goldhorn as the next
Adjutant General of the Guam National
Guard this morning and BG Goldhorn assumed the TAG's position at
9:30 am. A
press release was sent out before mid day announcing the
change in the Guard's leadership.
Tony Lamorena, director of communications for the
Camacho administration said the Governor will be forwarding a packet for
Goldhorn's confirmation to the Legislature within the next ten days.
The decision came after an exhaustive search process which heated up in
the past week. In earnest, the Governor and close advisors
considered, spoke and visited with several candidates, all men, on
and off-island in an effort to find a permanent replacement.
Goldhorn is the fourth Camacho appointment to the position since
January 6, 2003.
The Governor also relieved Col Jerry M. Rivera as the acting Adjutant
General of the Guam National Guard and did not reassign Rivera to any
position of authority in the Guard. Col Dennis Santo Tomas remains the
Chief of Staff, but Camacho advisors said that it is the new TAG's
discretion whether to keep him in that position or find a replacement.
