The following gallery contains photos of people and
events as I started to discover the history of the Chamorro Bible and
joined the quest for more information and support of the republication of
the Chamorro Bible. Its a story that reveals how powerful Jehovah's word is
and the people along the road who make themselves available in the
preservation of that name and purpose.
God's word has brought people of all nations,
tongues, and beliefs together for a common purpose, the preservation of his
name, word and purpose. It has been and continues to be a pleasure to be
associated with project like this. I hope you enjoy the photo story.

I was called to the Yilig
Bridge construction where the discovery of human remains were unearthed on
April 17, 2003 by Historic Preservation Officer with the Department of
Parks and Recreation, Lynda Aguon. While there, I took this photo
wondering who the man was, standing in the back of the group wearing a
blue shirt. I thought it odd that he was there, smiling, since I had never
seen him before. The next day, when the photo in this box was taken, was
the day the memorial for the remains was held. |

Senator
Tina Muna Barnes was at the memorial standing next to her brother-in- law,
Senator John Quinata. Senator Barnes told me that the man she wanted me to
meet who had information about a Chamorro Bible was at the memorial. It
was Clarence L. Thomas IV, the man standing in the back of the group in
the blue shirt. We shook hands while Senator Barnes was explaining about
the Bible. I asked Thomas where the bible was, chuckled and said, 'In my
car." |

We followed Clarence to his car and he bought out a binder with page of
the original Chamorro Bible copied and placed in plastic page covers.
He
shared his excitement with us about the discovery and then told us that
Josephine Chargualaf Varley would be at the Guam Adventist Academy at
about 10 a.m. to record more scripture and we should meet her. |

Senator Barns and I agreed to go to the school and meet Varley. When we
arrived, Josephine was preparing to record, reading the scriptures out
loud and we soon got an idea of what the scriptures sound in Chamorro.
Though Barnes and I struggled to pronounce the Chamorro words, we
understood that what Varley was speaking was indeed Chamorro. |

After I saw the copies of the Chamorro Scripture I asked Clarence if I
could make a copy of the set and he was very willing to provide me with
it. We agreed to go to my husband's office to copy the pages. In this
photo, (L-R) Clarence, Senator Muna Barnes, Bob Steffy and my mother,
Frederica Flores Santos. Mom is the great-grand-daughter of Dolores
Mendiola Taitano and she and Janet are eighth generation Taitano. |

Clarence L. Thomas IV listening to a caller on Rlene"Live" state he has c opies of the
Chamorro Bible that were given to him by a ministerial member who was leaving the
island. The caller, Neil Culbertson, told us he thought he has a few copies of the bible.
